Torchlighters: I've Got Cover Art!

Let me take a moment to tell you a little about my current Work in Progress. I have been instructed recently that marketing is supposed to start before release day so let me tease this one a little bit.

So imagine it's the 1920's, but everything is demon powered. And the protagonists are mobsters.

Have I caught you yet? Come with me for a minute.

The Torchlighters rule the dock district in Daelan City, and the Trezza family rules the Torchlighters. The aristocracy are all demon summoners, and because they who control the power source so control the city, there's propaganda all over the place about not summoning demons unlicensed and uneducated.

It's not entirely without reason; a miscast summoning, or a demon on the loose, can be catastrophic. Unfortunately, education isn't that easy to come by and changing one's lot in life is as dangerous as it is expensive.

Half-Demon Callum Trezza never had it that bad, though. As the son of a shiner boss, carrier of the kind of genes that let him set things on fire whenever he feels like it, and a man in possession of a great deal of charisma, things have been copacetic. That is, until somebody tries to kill him and he gets the bright idea in his head to roll with it and play dead to make the bastard easier to find.

I'm wrists deep in Draft 1 right now and I'm having a blast. I'd like to keep this train rolling in the coming weeks, maybe talk about a few of my point of view characters and the world the book is set in. Guys, I'm gonna really try to have this one done and out around Christmas, but given my own wedding's coming up next month and I'm running around like a chicken with its head cut off trying to make various obligations I'm not going to make any promises just yet.

Keep checking back, I'm going to be posting relevant links as they come up and you'll be the very first to know as soon as anything is set in stone.

Fortune Favors,
Megan R. Miller
